I have been practicing professional counseling since 1991. I am a licensed mental health counselor, and my license is from Florida. Much of my work has been trauma-related (both clinical and sub-clinical). As such I have worked not only with individuals who have experienced trauma, but also with their loved ones (spouse, family) so that all understand the dynamics related to trauma. For some trauma-sufferers, substance misuse has become a way of coping with the intrusive thoughts and feelings. I can help with substance misuse, also. My counseling framework/practice includes cognitive-behavioral, transtheoretical (the Stage of Change model), solution-focused, and humanistic-existential. I believe we all have four major components to our lives: biological, psychological, social, and spiritual. Effective counseling addresses all four areas, though not all at the same time.

My interest in individual and social psychology developed when I was an undergraduate at Howard University in the latter part of the 1960s. While working my way through school I somehow also found time to provide volunteer services at various non-profit agencies in around the Washington DC area. After graduating with a degree in Sociology I worked at Federal Government clerical jobs crunching numbers but I really wanted to work with "real" people. I soon started working in case management and substance abuse counseling in New York City. I was recommended to enter a special accelerated graduate program in Clinical Social Work at Adelphi University by the director at one of the agencies. The Clinical degree launched my entry into a more research-based and specialized area of the field which had grown with the myriad social changes that were taking place in the country (substance abuse; HIV epidemic; two paycheck households; etc.). I moved to Florida in the 1990s I had to make adjustments to a culture that I was unfamiliar with but quickly assimilated to. I had the good fortune of working for some of the best agencies as well as having a successful run as an independent practitioner. I eventually spent my last ten years of employment as a mental health therapist for the Florida Department of Corrections before retiring in 2014. Over the years I have worked with individuals and groups from all walks of life and with a wide variety of concerns. I have also done presentations at schools and churches on the issue of emotional disorders and ways of identifying some of the symptoms in students. My training in Clinical Social Work would be categorized as a psychodynamic approach however, I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Approach and have been a certified trainer and Supervisor of Masters level therapists in the use of that method. Since retirement I have done some part-time quality-control work for a Community Mental Health Center and have been active in doing volunteer work with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, a local Hospice Center, and the American Cancer Society, however, these have been put on hold since the emergence of the COVID pandemic.

Hi! I'm Taylor, a licensed therapist in Florida, Colorado, and Virginia. I work with people dealing with stress, relationship issues, feeling stuck, anxiety, life transitions, or just trying to figure out what they actually want out of life. My style is conversational and collaborative. I believe people have more insight into their own lives than they might realize, and my job is to help you access that. I ask a lot of questions because that's often how people find their own answers. We'll talk through what's bothering you, explore what matters to you, and figure out what's getting in the way. I'm an active listener and will share observations, offer different perspectives, and give you feedback on what I'm noticing. My goal is to help you untangle your thoughts so you can move forward in a way that feels right to you. I work hard to create a space where you can say what's actually on your mind without worrying about being judged. I'm here to support you in figuring out what you need and how to get there.

I’m Ariadna Soriano, LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor)—with 20 years of combined experience with children and adults' mental health difficulties. I’m bilingual (English–Spanish), and a survivor of abuse; this lived experience shapes my trauma-informed and culturally responsive care. I offer kind, practical, evidence-based therapy to sort out what’s happening and build from your strengths. How do I work? I see individuals (children, teens, and adults) across Florida via discreet telehealth. Focus areas: relationships; trauma/abuse (including narcissistic abuse); addictions; ADHD and learning issues; anxiety; depression; BPD. Approaches (briefly explained): Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): skills to change unhelpful thoughts and actions. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)–informed skills: calm the body, name feelings, set boundaries. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): act on values even when feelings are hard. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): build on what already works. Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT): structured trauma recovery. Holistic approach. We care for the whole person: body care, sleep, movement/exercise, nutrition, realistic positivity, and mindfulness (short, simple attention practices). Everything is tailored to your experiences, tastes, interests, and strengths, so the plan feels realistic and sustainable. Inclusive practice. I welcome and affirm people from all communities and identities. If you want steady guidance and tools you can use, let’s move—step by step—toward a calmer, happier life. In today's fast-paced society, mental well-being has become a cornerstone of a fulfilling life. Amid the daily challenges and stressors that can overwhelm even the most resilient individuals, seeking professional guidance often offers a path to clarity and balance. The journey toward improved emotional health involves understanding personal triggers, embracing self-compassion, and developing effective coping strategies. While self-help books and online resources provide valuable information, nothing compares to the personalized support offered by a qualified mental health professional. One-on-one sessions with experienced experts can help uncover the underlying issues contributing to anxiety, depression, or other emotional hurdles. With a careful and empathetic approach, these professionals tailor their advice to suit individual needs, ensuring that each person receives strategies that work best for their unique circumstances. Whether through cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, or other innovative methods, the aim is to foster resilience and empower individuals to take control of their inner lives. For those living in bustling urban centers, engaging in face-to-face sessions in a welcoming environment can be particularly beneficial. Access to a caring clinician provides not only a safe space to explore difficult emotions but also builds a support network essential for long-term recovery. The process encourages self-reflection and greater insight into behavioral patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed. While the journey can be challenging at times, the rewards include enhanced emotional stability, improved interpersonal relationships, and a renewed sense of self-worth. In one notable case, the guidance provided by a highly trained therapist proved instrumental in navigating a tumultuous period. Through structured sessions and tailored interventions, the individual learned to identify stressors and develop healthier responses to adversity. This experience underscored the transformative impact that dedicated support can have on one's overall quality of life. In a region like Texas, community-based initiatives and accessible mental health programs further reinforce the value of professional help. These efforts emphasize early intervention, preventive care, and continuous support, ensuring that more people are equipped to face life's inevitable challenges. Ultimately, investing in mental well-being is an act of self-care that yields lifelong benefits. By embracing professional support, individuals can unlock new levels of emotional resilience and discover pathways to a brighter, more balanced future. Each step taken toward healing represents a commitment to personal growth, enabling a life filled with renewed optimism and strength. Embracing this transformative journey consistently paves the way for deeper understanding, lasting peace, and meaningful personal progress.
